Why should I store my will and deeds with you?

Will. Your Will is a very important legal document. It comes into force when you die. If it cannot be found or is destroyed after your death, it may be assumed you have revoked it. Leaving a copy of the Will with your solicitor is fine, but if the original is not found it will be presumed you cancelled it before you died.

The cliché of a disappointed family member who destroys a Will knowing that he will get something (or more) if there is no Will is not confined to films. Storing your original Will with us ensures that your wishes are more likely to be complied with.

Deeds. Most land today is registered. Recent changes in Land Registry practice means that Land certificates are no longer issued. Losing your deeds is not as disastrous as in former times, when it meant that proving your title to the land was very difficult and deeds could never be replaced. Other essential deeds (e.g. Leases, licences, permissions, certificates, etc. needed for the sale of the property can be kept secure in our premises).

All Wills and deeds stored with us are securely kept in fireproof safes. Documents are recorded on our computer database and we send a yearly confirmation that your documents are held safely.

The cost of this peace of mind? - £35 + VAT per year, payable by banker's order only. If you have a will and deeds you can store both for the same price of only £35 + VAT per year.
