LOST DEEDS?
Have you lost the deeds to your house? Are they still missing after a thorough search? We can help.
Before you contact us, these are the most common reasons for the "loss" of deeds.
1 HELD BY LENDER. If you have a mortgage, the deeds will be with your lender. Even if you have paid off your mortgage, many lenders hold on to the deeds for safe-keeping. Check with them.
2 HELD BY SOLICITOR. If you bought without a mortgage, the deeds may still be with the solicitor who acted for you. Check with them.
If you really have lost your deeds then all is not lost (ouch! sorry about the pun). If your property is in a built up area it will almost certainly be registered. Getting a copy of your title is relatively straightforward. Recent changes to Land Registry practice means that the loss of a Land Certificate for property that is already registered is not as serious as before.
If your property is in a rural area it may not be registered yet. This is quite serious but we can help you to prove your title and apply for registration. Once you are registered, you should be able to sell your property.
